OmniMedicalSearch.com is a medial metasearch engine that debuted a little more then 2 weeks ago on July 15th. It provides access to 25 health and medical databases including authoritative medical search engines, image libraries and the latest health and medical news.
"Many of the searches for 'tissue' came from a popular UK medical engineering website that implemented our search box, as well as searches from our site," Founder Jason Morrow explained.
Besides those searching for information about different types of transplants and medical tests, Morrow added that most people searching for cancer were looking for skin cancer information. A possible reflection on concerns that people might be overexposing themselves to the summer-time sun, he said.
Since it was released to the public for beta testing more then 2 weeks ago, Morrow said the response to the OmniMedicalSearch has been overwhelmingly positive.
"We've received a lot of emails from people thanking us for putting together this medical metasearch engine," Morrow said. "The reports in blogs and discussion forums has also been positive."
Along with the positive feedback came polite suggestions for improvement. "We're in beta mode right now so we've been looking for a lot of feedback on how we can improve. Improving our search results and user satisfaction has been our top priority from day one," Morrow said.
"We paid close attention to those suggestions and right now we are acting on them," Morrow said. "We plan to roll out those improvements later this week. I am very excited about them."
Among the new improvements will be an increase in the search engines they cover from 25 to 30 as well as better matching options for complex search terms.
"On behalf of the OmniMedicalSearch.com team, I'd like to thank our users who have supported us with kind words, recommendations, suggestions and implementing our search box," Morrow added.
SofterLogic, a UK based company, is the software engineering company behind OmniMedicalSearch.com. Morrow is an American citizen doing volunteer work in Romania.
